Monday, May 29 – Memorial Day – Flags at half-staff until noon.

Monday, May 29Wildcat Lake facilities will open for the season.


Tuesday, May 30Retirement celebration for Watauga County Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Elliott.


Wednesday, May 31 – The Embers featuring Craig Woolard are slated to make their debut at the Appalachian Theatre at 7:30 p.m. 


Thursday, June 1 The final day for Watauga County Schools for the 2022-23 school year. It will be an early release day.


Friday, June 2 – The Town of Boone’s Historic Preservation Commission marker unveiling ceremony on June 2, 2023, at 1 PM. The unveiling ceremony will take place at the site of the marker at the corner of Queen Street and North Water Street for the Hayes-Bryan-Greene Cemetery.

Friday, June 2Watauga High School will hold a graduation ceremony for the Class of 2023 at 5:30 p.m.

Friday, June 2 –  Watauga Community Band at  Summer Concerts at the Jones House


Saturday, June 3Ashe County Safety Day.

Saturday, June 3Grandfather Mountain to celebrate National Trails Day.


Sunday, June 4 Singing in the Valle concert begins the 2023 summer series with the vocal and hand bell choirs of Holy Cross Episcopal Church joined by singers from Banner Elk Presbyterian Church.
