NCDOT will hold an informal open house public workshop for the 105/Bodenhimer Drive connector road project. DOT is developing alternatives for the road and residents can view maps, provide input and ask questions. There will be no formal presentation
The meeting will be held Monday Aug 12 at the Watauga County Administration Building, 814 West King Street, Suite 205 in Boone from 5-7pm.
Joe Laws, Division 11 Project Manager, tells WataugaRoads.com that a private engineering firm has been contracted to provide design plans for this project. The workshop will include three alternative routes for a new connector road from Bodenheimer Drive to NC105 near the campus of Appalachian State University. He added “We are seeking public comments on the alternatives and will proceed with the design for the chosen alternative”.
The topic was brought up in 2007 after a completed feasibility study by ASU. That study requested Bodenheimer Drive be extended to reach Homespun Hills Road and connect Poplar Grove Road to Homespun Hills. In 2012 ASU once again requested the new road in hopes that NCDOT would study the possibility.
To request special accommodations you may need to participate in this workshop contact Joe Laws at 336-903-9138 or email jlaws@ncdot.gov.
