The Town of North Wilkesboro is requesting that customers voluntarily conserve water in response to recent drought conditions in the region.
The conservation request applies to the town's full service population, which includes the Town of North Wilkesboro, West Wilkes Water Association, Blue Ridge Water Association, Mulberry Fairplains Water Association, and Broadway Water Association.
Town officials emphasized that current conditions have not reached the threshold that would trigger mandatory action under the North Wilkesboro Water Shortage Response Plan.
“The Town is not currently experiencing measures that would invoke the North Wilkesboro Water Shortage Response Plan,” the town said in a news release posted Thursday, April 16. “We are simply looking to the future for the best interest of North Wilkesboro customers and our neighbors.”
Residents are encouraged to reduce water use where possible. For future updates and to view a copy of the North Wilkesboro Water Shortage Response Plan, visit www.north-wilkesboro.com.
