…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS
AFTERNOON…

  • WHAT…A wintry mixture of freezing rain and sleet is likely
    this morning. A light glaze of ice is expected in addition to a
    light accumulation of sleet.
  • WHERE…Portions of southwest and west central Virginia and
    northwest North Carolina.
  • WHEN…Until 1 PM EST this afternoon.
  • IMPACTS…Very slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges are
    possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning
    commute.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Multiple vehicle accidents have been
    reported across Watauga Co. this morning. Current US Hwy 421
    remains closed due to the icy conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities…and use caution while driving.
