A dedication ceremony was held Friday, Oct. 30, for the Deputy Logan S. Fox Bridge, the new bridge on N.C. Highway 105 named in honor of fallen K-9 Deputy Logan S. Fox of the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office. The ceremony took place at Valle Crucis Park beginning at 11 a.m.

Fox, 25, was killed in the line of duty on April 28, 2021, along with Sgt. Chris Ward, while responding to a welfare check on Hardaman Circle in Boone. Fox was a two-year veteran of the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office and previously served with the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office. He was the handler of K-9 Raven.

The N.C. Board of Transportation passed a resolution on March 6, 2025, to name the bridge the “Deputy Logan S Fox Bridge.” Two K-9s attended the ceremony, which ended with the unveiling of the new sign.
