No injuries are being reported after a train derailed in McDowell County on Sunday afternoon.
Four cars derailed at Peppers Creek Road, according to WLOS-TV.
WLOS-TV and a Facebook page titled NCFireFighters confirms an active ammonium nitrate leak.
According to the NCDOT travel information site, the unpaved section of SR 1566 (Peppers Creek Rd.) is closed due to a train derailment and the road is closed from the end of pavement to the Mitchell Co. Line. The cause of the derailment has not yet been released.
