NWS Blacksburg (Southwest Virginia)
Special Weather Statement issued November 03 at 6:47AM EDT by NWS Blacksburg
…Locally dense fog will hamper travel this morning…
Foggy conditions are expected this morning from the North
Carolina mountains and foothills, north through the New River
Valley. Visibilities will average a mile or so, but a few areas
will have visibilities reduced to under a quarter mile. This will
be especially true along Interstate 81 between Roanoke and
Marion, Interstate 77 between Bland and Fancy Gap, and U.S. 221
between Jefferson and Floyd.
Those traveling should prepare for rapid reductions in visibility. Use
low beam headlights, slow down and allow for more braking
distance.
