The National Weather Service has issued Wind Advisories for Watauga, Ashe and Avery counties as the remnants of Isaias move over the region Saturday into Sunday.
Strong easterly to southeasterly winds may lead to downed trees and power poles, and subsequent power outages, across higher terrain from northwest North Carolina to southeast West Virginia.
Watauga and Ashe Counties
When: 5 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. EDT Sunday.
Winds: East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph, with isolated gusts up to 60 mph along ridge lines above 3,500 feet.
Also covered: Grayson, Smyth and Tazewell counties in Virginia, and Mercer, Summers and Western Greenbrier counties in West Virginia.

Avery County
When: Midnight tonight to 8 a.m. EDT Sunday.
Winds: East winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 46 mph.
Also covered: Henderson County and the mountain portions of Polk, Rutherford, McDowell, Burke and Caldwell counties in North Carolina, plus northeast Georgia and the western Upstate of South Carolina.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, including portable tents. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
