As more photos of the area around the Horton Fire come into the Watauga Roads social media outlets they'll be posted here. For updates on the fire see this link. A local family in the path of the fire shares their photos with WataugaOnline.com. See this link for more information.
Watauga County Emergency Management officials remind residents if you do not live in the Blue Ridge Mountain Club/Upper Sampson area PLEASE do not go sightseeing in this area. The traffic congestion from people trying to see the fire is hampering emergency operations.
REMINDER – If you have family or renters or anyone from out of the immediate area coming into the High Country make them aware there is a burning ban in effect. Local fire departments continue to get calls about outside burning taking place. The ban remains in effect until further notice.
