4:15am – 24 degrees in Boone with a wind chill of 12. Wind chills forecast to drop into the single digits this morning. Several slick areas overnight so use caution this morning. Getting early morning report of slick spots mostly on the west and south sides of the county.

Single digit windchill for the first time this morning

6:00am – Continuing to get a few reports of slick areas, mainly in the western and southern sections of the county. Closer to Avery County line seems to be the biggest problem area currently.
US HWY 421 N is clear from TN line to Boone. Not bad at all. Some icy spots here and there.

8am – Still scattered slick spots around the county, but have not received any reports of any major trouble areas impacting a high volume of traffic.
