A fire that broke out along Meat Camp Road Thursday evening and prompted traffic detours has been contained, according to Meat Camp Fire Department.
Crews from Meat Camp Fire Department, North Carolina Forest Service, Boone Fire Department, Zionville Fire Department, Watauga Rescue, and Oregon ODF responded to the fire, which started in the ditch line of Meat Camp Road near the intersection of NC 194. Volunteers and crews contained the 2.5-acre fire in approximately two hours.
The fire caused traffic to be detoured and turned around in the area while crews worked to bring it under control.
