The last day of school for Watauga County Schools on Friday also marked the last day of drop-offs and pickups at the now former Valle Crucis School.
Students had been meeting at three different locations – pre-K at Appalachian State University’s Child Development Center, K-5 at Valle Crucis Conference Center/Holy Cross Episcopal Church, and 6th-8th at Caldwell Community College Watauga Campus – since Helene left the buildings at 2998 Broadstone Road unusable. The school bus parking lot was still able to be used as “The Hub” to take students to each of the three locations and bring them back in the afternoons.
The new school construction is expected to be wrapped up very soon, within weeks. Photos and videos of that project can be found at this link.
