A house is a total loss after an overnight fire on Thursday morning.

Watauga County Communications received a call regarding a structure fire at a single family residence at the 600 block of Wildcat Rd in Deep Gap just before 12:30 am.

Upon arrival, the structure was found to have visible flames and was fully involved, according to Watauga Emergency Services. The cause is under investigation. The house was not occupied at the time and there were no reported injuries.

The Fire Marshal would like to remind residents to keep bedroom doors closed while away and while sleeping. Having your door closed makes a 900 degree difference in a fire. Have a fire escape plan with more than one way to escape. Keep a clear path to the exits. Make sure everyone in the home knows their safe ways out.
