Heavy rainfall starting tonight and lasting into Thursday could lead to possible flooding, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
In the Hazardous Weather Outlook issued on Tuesday, NWS states that locally heavy rainfall will develop tonight which may produce flooding, especially along the southern Blue Ridge into the mountains of North Carolina.
The outlook goes on to state that multiple rounds of moderate to locally heavy rainfall are expected Wednesday and Thursday, which may result in flooding of small streams and rivers, as well as poor drainage areas.
NWS says that a flood watch may be issued that would include Watauga County.
Rainfall amounts of up to 4 inches are possible in some locations.
