Hawksnest Golf & Ski Resort, a beloved destination for outdoor fun in Seven Devils, has officially been sold after 35 years of family ownership, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the business and the community it serves.

For the past 35 years, the park has been proudly owned and operated by the Cottom Family, spanning three generations. Their dedication helped transform the property into a regional attraction known for its welcoming atmosphere, commitment to safety, and memorable experiences on both the snow tubing slopes and zipline courses. Longtime residents may also remember the site's earlier days, when it operated as a popular ski and golf resort drawing visitors from across the region.

“On behalf of the Cottom Family, I would like to express deep gratitude for the community's support over the decades. I would also like to thank all the employees past and present who made Hawksnest what it is today. We could not have done it without their support and efforts,” said Lenny Cottom. “The new owners bring fresh energy and a shared passion for outdoor recreation. We're excited to see the business evolve in their hands and look forward to our next adventure in the Boone area.”

Community members can expect the same friendly spirit that has defined the business for decades, along with new ideas and potential upgrades aimed at attracting even more visitors to the area. More details about upcoming changes and plans are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Hawksnest opened its doors to the public in 1964, originally as a ski resort. A golf course was added a few years later, and in 1968 the resort's name was officially changed to Ski Hawksnest. The Cottom Family assumed ownership of the golf course in 1991 and eventually took over full ownership of both the golf course and ski resort, changing the name to Hawksnest Golf & Ski Resort. The resort stopped skiing and snowboarding in 2008 when it switched focus to creating the East Coast's largest snow tubing park. The original zipline course welcomed its first guests in summer 2009.
