Foscoe Fire extinguishes brush fire caused by downed power line on Saturday

Last Updated on April 2, 2023 5:10 am

Unusually high wind gusts for this time of year have caused a number of problems across the High Country today. With many downed trees power outages began during the afternoon, as noted on the WataugaOnline Twitter account.

Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire in the Meat Camp community earlier today. It is currently unknown if or how the high winds played a factor in it.

In Foscoe a downed power line caused a brush fire at a local man's home. Andrew Plyler shared with WataugaOnline, via Twitter, that Foscoe Fire took care of a brush fire in front of his house this evening. Plyler noted that the fire started around 5:25 pm and was fully put out at 6:30 pm. You can see his videos and photo below.
