“UPDATE 3/12/17: Today we completed the 325th day since the last known sighting of our boy. Words can not express the emotions that statement dredges up! Needless to say, writing an update, given our current situation, is very difficult. But we know so many people care, some many people are praying, some many people want to ask about what's going on with the investigation, etc. and we really appreciate all the prayers and the concern.”
Those were the words from the facebook profile of John Roberts posting to a Facebook group related to the search for Martin Roberts. Martin Roberts was last seen on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at approximately 12:30 PM near the intersection of Hardin Street and Rivers Street around the ASU Convocation Center.
Since that time Boone Police have continued an outreach and investigations to find more information about Robert's disappearance (update April 24, update May 23, update June 24 ).
In the Facebook posting from the profile of John Roberts it goes on to say: “The Boone Police Department continues to keep our case a priority. Anything that comes in is checked into. Additionally, other law enforcement does what they can. My father recently had a brief conversation with a City Police Officer in Gastonia. Within a day or two, he had done some checks in their system, found an interesting lead and brought a photo by the house of a young man that favored Martin. As chance would have it, Abbie and I were visiting. Unfortunately the young man in the picture was not Martin but it was great to see the interest and concern he had. We are very thankful for all the support from various law enforcement agencies we have received over the past 11 months. Recently some Federal support has come through as well. We can't share many details for now but we are anxiously awaiting any new information they may be able to provide. Not a lot to report but you are up to date.”
In communicating with Boone Police Chief Dana Crawford on Monday night he shares with WataugaOnline.com, “Since day one Boone Police Department officers and investigators have worked diligently and tirelessly to locate Martin. We continue to look into any fragment of evidence or possible sightings. The Roberts family remains in our thoughts and prayers as we continue our search for Martin. We remain faithful in our partnership with the Roberts family to do everything we can to find him. I am asked almost weekly if we have found out anything about Martin, so I know the public is still aware and still concerned about what happened. I can't imagine the hurt and anguish this family has suffered. Our job is to do everything we can to help them bear this burden and continue our search.”
