A Boone native with nearly five decades behind the wheel has been named one of four finalists for the Women in Trucking Association's 2026 Driver of the Year award.
Ingrid Brown, owner-operator of Rollin' B LLC and a driver for Blackjack Express LLC, was announced as a finalist on March 11 by the Women in Trucking Association (WIT). The award, sponsored by Walmart, recognizes outstanding female professional drivers who lead the trucking industry in safety standards and public advocacy. The winner will be announced March 27 at the Salute to Women Behind the Wheel event at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky.
Brown has built a 46-year career in trucking defined by safety advocacy and leadership. In addition to operating her own trucking company and hauling heavy, oversize, and refrigerated freight for Blackjack Express, she serves as Operations Manager for a specialized refrigerated fleet.
She serves as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Voice of Safety for the Our Roads, Our Safety campaign and has appeared in national public service announcements, on billboards, on SiriusXM radio, and in social media outreach on behalf of highway safety.
Among her honors are the 2015 NASTC America's Road Team designation, the 2015 NASTC Woman Driver of the Year, the 2025 NASTC Ambassador of the Year, and the 2018 TA/Petro Citizen Driver Award.
Brown has been a charter member of the Women in Trucking Association since its founding in 2007 and currently serves on the WIT Board of Directors. She is also a melanoma survivor who uses her platform to champion cancer awareness and mentoring for the next generation of drivers.
The other 2026 Driver of the Year finalists are Fabiola Campos-Buenavista, a city driver and driver development instructor at FedEx Freight; Gina Jones, a professional driver with Werner Enterprises; and Kellylynn McLaughlin, a national transportation driver with Clean Harbors Environmental Services.
The Women in Trucking Association was founded in 2007 to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments, and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the field.
