Boone Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Including Child Sexual Exploitation

UPDATE February 9 – After continued investigation, Barbee was served with an outstanding arrest warrant for Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and also charged with the following crimes.

  • Six counts of Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
  • Three counts of Felony Secret Peeping

Barbee’s court date was set for April 2, 2026 and April 9, 2026 and his conditions of release were set as a total secured bond amount of $141,000.


Boone, NC ā€“ On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Boone Police Department, Watauga County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation conducted an investigation of a Boone man for the Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).  

 The Boone Police Department, Watauga County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are members of the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which is continually engaged in proactive and reactive investigations and prosecutions of persons involved in child abuse and exploitation of children involving the internet.

 As a result of this investigation, Jackson Scott Barbee, 35 years-of-age, of Boone, NC was arrested and charged with the following crimes.

 ā€¢ One count of Third Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

• One count of Possession of Methamphetamine

• One count of PWIMSD Schedule 1 Controlled Substance

• One count of Felony Possession of Schedule 1 Controlled Substance

• One count of Maintaining a Dwelling Place for Controlled Substance

• One count of PWIMSD Marijuana 

 Arrested is 35-year-old Jackson Scott Barbee of Boone.

 Barbee’s court date was set for April 2, 2026 and his conditions of release were set as a total secured bond amount of $65,000.
