Banner Elk Fire Rescue Auxilary Pie Auction Breaks Records

Last Updated on July 5, 2025 7:45 pm

Despite the high summer temperatures, the heat couldn’t keep the crowds away from one of our favorite traditions—the Annual Pie Auction, hosted by the incredible Banner Elk Fire Rescue Auxiliary! With overwhelming support from our community, this year’s event set a new record, raising an outstanding $14,535 to support the fire department’s mission and operations.

The funds raised will directly benefit Banner Elk Fire Rescue by helping cover essential support expenses such as meals for firefighters during extended emergency incidents, food and supplies during training events, and other operational needs that allow us to serve our community at the highest level. These funds help bridge the gap and ensure our members are well-supported while protecting and serving others.

We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming turnout—neighbors, families, local businesses, and visitors packed the room, bidding generously and cheering each other on in true small-town spirit. The display of community pride and support was truly humbling, and a reminder of why Banner Elk is such a special place to serve.

We’d like to give a special thank you to our auctioneer, whose energy and humor kept the bids flying and the crowd engaged all evening long. We’re also so proud of and thankful for all the fire department members who volunteered their time, stepped up to help set up and run the event, and contributed to making this a well-organized, fun-filled success. From setting up tables to hauling pies, to staying late to clean up—your commitment doesn’t go unnoticed.

Most importantly, we want to recognize the heart behind this event—the Banner Elk Fire Rescue Auxiliary. This group of dedicated individuals gives tirelessly to support our department year-round, and this event is a shining example of their passion and leadership. We’re excited to welcome Brooke Eggers as the new Auxiliary President, and Laura Fritz as Vice President. Their vision, energy, and commitment are exactly what will continue pushing this event—and our mission—forward.

Every pie donated, every dollar bid, and every person in the room made a difference. Together, we made history—and we’re beyond grateful.

Thank you, Banner Elk. We are proud to serve you, and even prouder to serve with you.
