The Watauga Humane Society is under quarantine until next week, as an isolated incident regarding the parvo virus is to blame, according a Facebook post by the organization.
On Tuesday the Humane Society posted that dog kennels will be under quarantine and no dog adoptions will be held, nor is visitation from the public allowed in dog areas. They plan to reopen for adoptions and walks on December 30.
The organization reminds pet owners to get annual vaccines from your vet or other low cost vaccine clinics. Questions or concerns regarding the quarantine can be directed to shelter manager Christy Watson at (828) 264-7865.
