The last day of the 2014-15 school year for students in the Watauga County Schools will be Friday, June 12th.
It will be an early release day, with students in the K-8 schools being dismissed at 12:00 and students at Watauga High School being dismissed at 1:00pm. Lunch will be served in all schools and school buses will run their usual routes.
Motorist in the county are advised to allow for extra travel time around school zones, and to be aware of buses on the roads during mid-day.
Graduation ceremonies for Watauga High School take place at the Holmes Convocation Center at ASU beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13th. The full schedule of graduation events is available on the Watauga High School website.
A free summer feeding service open to all Watauga County residents age 18 or younger will be available at Green Valley School on Mondays through Thursdays for the dates of June 22nd through July 16th. The program offers a free breakfast from 8-9 a.m. and free lunch 12-1:00 p.m. No application or prior approval is required to participate in this program.
The school calendar for next school year is available under the calendar heading on the Watauga County Schools website at www.watauga.k12.nc.us. The first school day for students will be Tuesday, August 18th. Teachers and other 10 month personnel will return to work on Wednesday, August 12th.
