* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas
for…
Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…
* Until 800 PM EDT
* At 407 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to showers
and a few thunderstorms. UP to an inch per hour was falling in
showers and thunderstorms moving north from Caldwell County. This
will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor
drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.

and Sugar Grove.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
