Two Watauga residents charged with Trafficking in Fentanyl in Caldwell County

Caldwell County Sheriff Kevin H. Bean announced on August 12, 2025, Narcotic Agents with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office I.C.E Unit and Watauga County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Watauga County residents after the vehicle they were operating was found to contain Fentanyl.

Latosha Nicole Townsend, age 31, of Blowing Rock was arrested and charged with two counts of Trafficking in Fentanyl. She was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.

Cody Michael Miller, age 30, of Blowing Rock was arrested and charged with two counts of Trafficking in Fentanyl. He was also placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.

At approximately 10:00 P.M on August 12th, Caldwell County patrol deputies stopped a motor vehicle at the direction of Caldwell County Narcotic Agents. During the investigation, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Raven, was utilized and alerted on the target vehicle to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 17 grams of Fentanyl and a firearm by Narcotic Agents. Townsend and Miller were arrested without incident. The narcotics seized during the investigation have a total street value of $3,400 according to North Carolina State Drug Guidelines.
