The remnants of tropical storm Michael brought over 10 inches of rain to some locations in the High Country.
11.40 inches was recorded at the 4 SSE Sparta weather station, in Alleghany County, according to unofficial 72 hour reports from the National Weather Service Blacksburg office. Also in Alleghany County, the 1 WSW Barrett station recorded 10.73 inches and the Barrett station recorded 10.34 inches.
In Watauga County, the most significant amount reported to NWS was from a station in the Aho community that recorded 9.54 inches. Other notable totals were from a station in Boone with 9.48 inches and the 1 SE Rutherwood station with 9.36 inches.
