In coordination with the NC Forest Service the Town of Boone is removing the ban on outdoor burning as of 5pm today, November 22 2023.
“Yesterday we saw between ¾ inch and 1 ½ inches of rain fall across the Town of Boone. This has lowered the danger of outside fires. Removal of the burn ban will allow individuals to have small recreational fires within 100 feet of their homes.”, according to Amy Flieg with the Boone Fire Department.
The Town of Boone ordinance does not allow for burning of brush or yard debris. Boone Fire strongly encourages anyone who wishes to have an outside fire to take precautions to ensure that their fire is contained at all times, have a water hose nearby, and that someone stays with the fire until it is extinguished.
Boone Fire also asks residents to keep an eye on the weather conditions. The long range forecast calls for windy conditions and no additional rainfall, this may necessitate invoking another burn ban.
