Motorists should be aware of a speed limit change on a portion of Highway 194 just outside the Boone city limits.
The section from near Clint Norris Road through the S-curves in the vicinity of Brookshire Road is now 35 mph.
David Uchiyama, with NCDOT, tells WataugaOnline.com that 35 mph was recommended for the curves and NCDOT did not want the speed limit to bounce from 35 to 45 to 35 and back to 45 in less than a mile.
Uchiyama went on to say that before any speed limit changes are made NCDOT studies several factors, including the number of accidents.
WataugaOnline.com has reported on several accidents along that stretch of road over the last few years, including at least two fatal wrecks.
