Sheriff Kevin H. Bean announced that the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation after deputies responded to the 2200 block of Playmore Beach Road in the Collettsville community. A person surveying hurricane damage in the area discovered a deceased individual in a wooded area in the water.
Collettsville Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene and worked to safely recover the body from the water. The deceased has been identified as Casey Shaun Wilcox, age 37, of Hudson.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Wilcox during this difficult time,” said Sheriff Kevin H. Bean.
The investigation remains ongoing.
