Today, Gov. Cooper announced North Carolina is moving fully into Group 3 of the State’s vaccine priority plan, meaning all Group 3 frontline essential workers are eligible to be vaccinated as of Wednesday, March 3.
Following North Carolina's vaccine prioritization plan, which you can read in full on the NC Department of Health and Human Services website:
- College and university faculty and staff who must work in person at their work site are included in the group that is eligible beginning March 3. Review NCDHHS’ Group 3 Deeper Dive for more information.
- North Carolina will move into Group 4 on March 24, beginning with people with higher-risk medical conditions. Review NCDHHS’ Group 4 Deeper Dive for more information.
We have also learned that App State will receive its first shipment of 500 vaccines early next week. I am very pleased to announce we will hold our first vaccine clinic next Thursday, March 11. We will continue holding clinics and following the state’s prioritization plan to ensure everyone has access to receiving a vaccine.
Following the State guidelines for Group 3:
- Frontline workers who share workspaces that make physical distancing challenging (such as food preparation, residence halls staffing, etc.) will be the first to be offered the vaccine.
- Faculty who are teaching in person will follow this group.
You will receive an email from the university when it is time for you to schedule your vaccine appointment. Guided by the State’s prioritization system, the university will use the information provided by Human Resources, employees and all divisions to determine who currently falls into each phase of the rollout.
