Update Wed Dec 26 3:11pm – Flood Watch In Effect Thursday Evening Through Saturday Morning – Dec 27-29, 2018

More heavy precipitation is forecast for the High Country beginning on Thursday. The National Weather Service (NWS) says that heavy rain of 1-2 inches could fall between midnight and noon Friday. Storm total rainfall for the event (Thursday afternoon into Friday afternoon) will range from 2-3 inches along the VA/NC border.

NWS adds that a Flood Watch will likely be posted for part or all of their forecast area. Creeks, streams, and rivers just dropped below flood stage in some areas from last weekend`s rainfall, NWS notes and says that additional rainfall of the expected magnitude will result in renewed minor flooding along some creeks, rivers, and streams once again.

More precipitation is forecast starting Sunday night and lasting into New Year's Day. NWS adds that the timing and location of precipitation this far out in the forecast is uncertain.
