A wreck involving five vehicles turned the northbound lanes of Highway 421 between Deep Gap and Boone into a parking lot on Friday morning, between approximately 7:30am to 9:15am.
According to scanner dispatches at the time, units from Deep Gap Fire, Deep Gap First Responders and Watauga Medics were dispatched to the intersection of old 421 and new 421 around 7:30am. Extrication of at least one occupant were utilized, and at least one medevac helicopter was dispatched to the area.
Details as to the cause of the wreck were not immediately available from North Carolina Highway Patrol on Friday.
