Kick off the holiday season with the Town of Boone and the Downtown Boone Development Association at the annual Festive First Friday celebration and Solar Tree Lighting at the Jones House on Friday, December 1 from 5 pm-8 pm.

The evening's festivities include visits with Santa at Mast General Store, horse-drawn carriage rides on Howard Street, the annual mascot ‘snowball' fight at the Hope Center, and cookies and letters to the North Pole with Mrs. Claus at the post office.

On the Jones House lawn, start the festivities off with a special menorah lighting ceremony with the Temple of the High Country, followed by holiday caroling from the Watauga High choir, and then the finale with the solar tree lighting countdown courtesy of the App State Sustainable Energy Society. Enjoy food trucks in the back parking lot, free hot chocolate, cider, and cookies on the lawn, and a photographic exhibit inside the house from Q'Pasa Appalchia and Immigrant Connection of the High Country entitled “A Tapestry of Our Roots.”
