Come Back Shack is thrilled to announce the launch of its third annual “Give Back Shack” partnership with Watauga County Schools (WCS). This beloved community initiative is dedicated to eliminating the significant student lunch debt accumulated by local students, which currently totals over $25,000 annually. The initiative will feature three separate “Give Back Shack” days throughout the school year, providing multiple opportunities for the community to contribute. The first of this year's “Give Back Shack” days is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th.
How the Community Can Help
On Tuesday, November 18th, Come Back Shack will donate 20% of ALL sales made between both Boone locations directly to Watauga County Schools. These funds will be used exclusively to pay down student lunch debt.
- Date: Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 (All Day)
- Locations:
- Original location on Blowing Rock Road
- New location on King Street
- Action: All community members have to do is dine at either location on this day to contribute.
Multiple Ways to Give
Come Back Shack offers several ways for the community to support Watauga County Students, even beyond dining on a “Give Back Shack” day:
- In-Store Direct Donations: Guests dining on a Give Back Day can make direct monetary donations at the register/drive thru, kiosk, or when ordering online. 100% of these donations will go directly to the Watauga County Schools Nutrition Department.
- Online Donations: For community members who are unable to dine on the specified dates, there is an option to make a monetary donation online – https://comebackshack.orderexperience.net/6750861cfc0e899e830219d0/menu
A Note of Gratitude
We extend our sincerest gratitude to our corporate partner, Sysco, for giving a generous contribution to this year's “Give Back Shack” initiative. Their support is invaluable in helping us reach our goal. “Our students deserve the certainty of a warm, nutritious meal every day, regardless of their family's financial situation,” said a spokesperson for Come Back Shack. “The ‘Give Back Shack' days are our way of mobilizing the incredible generosity of the Boone community. We saw what we could do last year, raising over $12,500, and we are determined to match or exceed that total this school year to make an even greater impact.” The community is strongly encouraged to mark their calendars for Tuesday, November 18th and make Come Back Shack their lunch and dinner destination to support Watauga County Students and eliminate student lunch debt.
