Boone, NC – The Boone Police Department wishes to alert local businesses and consumers of fraudulent $100 bills that have recently begun to circulate in the community.
The $100 bill appears to be new circulation. However, in the bold print on the front appear the words FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY, rather than UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The fake currency does have a blue strip, but it’s printed on the surface. There is no light image of Benjamin Franklin on the right. The colored ink well, as well as the number “100” on the front and back do not change from orange to green when the bill changes position. It’s also been observed that the bills have a yellow pen mark wiped across the front, to cause confusion that the bills have already been tested for authenticity.
Any business or persons coming into contact with a fraudulent $100 bill are encouraged to contact the Boone Police Department, or your local law enforcement.
