Avery Sheriff’s Office: Four Arrested From Traffic Stop

On July 31, 2024, Detectives Ridge Phillips and Casey Lee conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Elk Park Community of Avery County.

With the assistance of K9 ‘Ghost” officers located controlled substances inside the vehicle. As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested. William Thomas Barlow, of Newland North Carolina, age 53, for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance.

Barlow is also being held on a Fugitive Warrant from Austin, Texas. Barlow is being held in the Avery County Detention Center on a $50,000 secured bond. Heather Quillen, of Jonesboro Tennessee, age 38, for Possession of Methamphetamine and being held in the Avery County Detention Center on a $50,000 secured bond. Pamela Jane Nunley, of Gray Tennessee, age 49, for Possession with intent to Sale a Schedule VI Controlled Substance and being held in the Avery County Detention Center on a $50,000 secured bond.

Tammie Elizabeth Blevins, age 51, of Roan Mountain Tennessee, for Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance and was released on a $10,000 secured bond.
