321 Construction Information from NCDOT:
Construction operations continue today on 321 in Blowing Rock with various moderate to significant impacts to traffic. A lane closure for northbound and southbound traffic from Tanger Outlets to Food Lion Shopping Center is in place for sidewalk prep/installation and rock face enhancements; a lane closure with flagging is in place on Sunset Dr for concrete driveway work at Glenwood Office Complex and at Citgo, and finally, a flagging operation is in place south of Rocky Knob Rd. Various other construction operations not impacting travel will continue today as well. As always and especially now that school is in session in Watauga County, motorist are encouraged to slow down and to allow extra time when traveling through these areas of the project. ***
*** Be advised that lane closures and traffic shifts are ACTIVE WORK ZONES, NOT SUITABLE FOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES!!! Everyday, pedestrians and bicyclists are observed traveling through these areas apparently under the misguided perception that since they are out of ‘open' travel lanes, it is safe. By being inside of these active work zones you are endangering yourself, other motorists and our construction crews, and at times, even delaying the progress of our work. Please, observe these work zones!! If you must be in the project area either on foot or on a bicycle, please help us keep you and everyone else safe – do not walk or bike through theses active work areas!! ***

Tuesday August 30
Northbound & Southbound lane closures today on 321 in Blowing Rock: Sunset to Possum Hollow. Flagging on Sunset south of Rocky Knob.
Frontier Natural Gas will be doing construction most of today on Poplar Hill Dr between Dogwood Rd and Horseshoe Dr. Expect delays.
3:35pm – Expect delays in the area of the Wellness Center & bowling alley due to motorcycle accident.
Wednesday August 31
Expect congestion and some delays in the northbound section of Blowing Rock Road as construction continues on the new intersection.
Thursday September 1

NB/SB lane closures on 321 in Blowing Rock this morning from Sunset Dr to Possum Hollow Rd, all lanes open later today for Labor Day
