Ashe Sheriff’s Office warning of phone scam claiming to be staff from their office

The Ashe County Sheriff's Office is warning of yet another scam making the rounds.

With this particular scam, there have been several reports where the caller claims to be a detective/deputy from the Ashe County Sheriff's Office. The caller states that you will be arrested if you do not send them money. Callers could tell you that you have a loved one in jail and need to pay to get them bonded out. The calls may even come in from an Ashe County phone number.

ACSO reminds everyone to please be aware that NO one from the Ashe County Sheriff's Office will call you and ask for your social security number, money, or gift cards.

It is best to hang up on the caller and call the Ashe County Sheriff's Office at 336-846-5600 to report this fraud.
