Ashe County Schools (ACS) officials are warning of an email scam that began on Friday evening.
Just after 8 pm, many students received an email from a compromised faculty email account, according to ACS. The email referred to a job opportunity, which is a scam.
The school system went on to state, “It is a SCAM designed to gather personal information. We have temporarily disabled student Gmail accounts while we purge the email. Please remind your child to never provide personal information or financial information without your permission. We will update students when we reactivate accounts.”
