Watauga High School To Begin Search For New Principal

Last Updated on December 3, 2016 10:40 pm

The Watauga County School system has officially begun the search for a new principal for Watauga High School.

The position was posted on nc.teachermatch.org on Friday, and follows the recent departure of now former Principal Marshall Gasperson. Gasperson requested and was granted a medical leave of absence on November 23, 2016.

According to a report by the Watauga Democrat, Gasperson was stopped by NCSHP on November 22 just before 6pm for a headlight out and was taken into custody under suspicion of DWI. The report also stated that a breath test taken at 7pm resulted in a measured blood alcohol content of .07. Gasperson was charged with possession of an open container in the passenger area of a vehicle but was dismissed by the district attorney's office.

The story is developing. WataugaOnline.com will provide updates as they become available.
