NCDOT Eliminates 81 Positions to Help Meet Legislative Requirements

To help meet Legislative outsourcing requirements as a result of the Appropriations Act of 2014, adopted during last year’s short session, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is eliminating 70 filled and 11 recently vacated positions effective June 1, through a reduction in force (RIF). 73 positions will be eliminated from Technical Services and eight positions from Right of Way.

Following state policy Human Resources will make an effort to place those individuals in other positions within NCDOT where possible.

“We value the hard work and dedication of all of our employees and remain committed to continue delivering the highest level of service to the citizens of North Carolina,” said NCDOT Secretary Tony Tata. “We have been actively engaged with the General Assembly for months and working hard within NCDOT to find the right formula to help meet the outsourcing requirements while minimizing the overall impact to employees and services.”
