Work On Area Roads Continue Due To May Flooding

NCDOT continues the process of repairing roads in the High Country due to the flooding on Monday May 6, 2013.

Kevin Whittington, Watauga County maintenance engineer with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, told WataugaRoads.com that the Watauga County Maintenance Unit has been working on the following roads during the week of May 6-10 :

NC105 South
Old Bristol Road
Tater Hill Road
Junaluska Road
Seven Devils
Fairway Drive
Niley Cook Road
Old 421 SR1233
Watauga River Road
Deck Hill Road

He added that NCDOT will be working on these roads the week of May 13-17:

NC 194 North
Flat Top Road
Ski Mountain Road
Winkler’s Creek
Shull’s Mill Road
Green briar Road
Howard’s Creek Road.

As DOT continues to find more flood damage they will schedule repairs.

Whittington wanted to add that DOT ask everyone to drive with care because there continues to be low shoulders and some rough conditions on unpaved routes through the county.
