…Wintry Mix Beginning Early Afternoon…

An upper level disturbance over the Tennessee and Lower Ohio Valleys will move east today, passing through the Mid-Atlantic Region tonight.

A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will accompany this weather system, beginning across the High Country of North Carolina, and far western Virgina early this afternoon.

Lower elevations are expected to receive less than an inch of snow, with a couple inches possible at the highest elevations before changing to rain or freezing rain.

If temperatures remain below 32 degrees then, some ice accretion will be possible. Areas along  the Blue Ridge Parkway will likely see the greatest ice accumulation with up to a tenth of an inch possible.
