Winter Weather Advisory for Watauga, Ashe & Wilkes – Friday Feb 26, 2021

…A mixture of rain and wintry precipitation is expected for Friday… Another storm system will arrive overnight, bringing a mixture of rain and wintry precipitation, including light accumulations of snow, sleet and ice from light freezing rain. Wintry precipitation will affect the ridgelines to a greater extent, which will be more situated in the colder air.

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 10 PM EST
FRIDAY…

  • WHAT…Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of
    locally up to one inch and ice accumulations of a light glaze.
    Accumulations will be more confined the ridges.
  • WHERE…Portions of southwest Virginia and north central and
    northwest North Carolina.
  • WHEN…From 7 AM to 10 PM EST Friday.
  • IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
    conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow…sleet…or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities…and use caution while
driving.
