With temperatures in the lower 30s on Sunday morning they still were not close enough for a record for this date. The top five coldest dates for both October 4th and 5th recorded temps into the 20s for Boone and Watauga County.

Temperatures would have had to drop another 17-20 degrees roughly to be in contention for all time record lows for the month of October.
