Weather: Extended & Heavy Rainfall Could Lead To Flooding This Week

Last Updated on February 3, 2020 8:19 pm

During a time period when we would normally be talking about snow, it's the possibility of flooding that will be the main weather story this week.

The rain is forecast to begin on Tuesday, along with wind gusts up to 25 mph. Tuesday night through Friday morning will pose the greatest threat for possible flooding issues. Along with the heavy rainfall this week, the National Weather Service (NWS) says that gusty winds and unseasonably warm and humid conditions can be expected.

Thursday will be the day for the greatest concern for heavy rainfall and will also bring a threat of thunderstorms, according to NWS. Rainfall amounts could be 2 to 4 inches and more in some local locations.

High temperatures will cool down for the late part of the week, dropping from 50's much of the week to 30's on Friday. Lows are forecast to be in the lower 30's for Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night.
