It was back to school time in Watauga County on Monday. After 72 days of summer vacation, students filled the eight elementary schools and Watauga High to get the 2018-19 year underway.
Garrett Price, Director of Communications for Watauga County Schools, tells WataugaOnline.com that enrollment is the highest in about 15 years with 4,630 students enrolled.
“The first day of school went very well. Everything ran just like it should. This is such an exciting time of year for us and we are so happy to have all our students and teachers back for a new year.” Price went on to say.
Here’s a look at the first day back via social media.
Nine schools + 100 miles + 4,650 students + 700 colleagues = one VERY proud superintendent on the first day of school! #WeAreWatauga
