BOONE, NC – Just in time for the season of new beginnings, Watauga Humane Society is proud to partner with BISSELL Pet Foundation for its nationwide Empty the Shelters® adoption event—December 1–15, 2025.
This lifesaving campaign offers 50% off adoption fees (up to $70 per pet), helping pets find loving homes while easing overcrowding in shelters. Watauga Humane Society is one of over 380 participating shelters across the U.S.
Thanks to the support of BISSELL Pet Foundation, WHS is offering this reduced adoption fee for all cats and dogs from Dec 1–15. Small critters remain fee-free. Browse adoptable pets or learn more at: https://bit.ly/4i01kxX.
“Empty the Shelters continues to prove just how powerful partnerships can be,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Every time we do this, we witness thousands of lives transformed—both animal and human.”
WHS echoes that sentiment. “It’s more than discounted fees,” says the team at Watauga Humane Society. “It’s about second chances—and the joy that comes with them.”
Since 2016, Empty the Shelters has helped over 323,000 pets find loving homes, becoming the largest funded adoption event in the country. BISSELL Pet Foundation now partners with more than 815 organizations across 49 states and Canada.
