A Watauga County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a wreck on Wednesday afternoon in Deep Gap.

The Deputy was leaving a call at Yuma Lane and attempted to cross 421 to old 421 South when he was struck by another car and the patrol car rolled over, according to a Sheriff's Office report. The unnamed Deputy and the other driver were transported by medics with non-life-threatening injuries.  The deputy was released and went home later, according to the report.

The Sheriff's Office added in a statement, “Often times its difficult when a responder is in need of assistance themselves and we are always grateful and humbled when we need help that they are always there. Thanks to the Deep Gap Fire Dept, Watauga Medics and Watauga Rescue for their quick response and care given to the other driver as well as the officer that was involved. We are thankful that everyone will be ok.”
