The Watauga County School system announced its first-ever Rookie Teacher of the Year on Tuesday.
Kari Riddle, a third-grade teacher from Parkway School, is the first to receive the award.
Mrs. Riddle was nominated for the honor by her peers from a group of teachers in their first year of teaching in the district, according to Garrett Price, Director of Communications for Watauga County Schools.
Riddle is pictured below with Superintendent Dr. Scott Elliott and Parkway Principal Patty Buckner.
Price goes on to add that, ” Like our long-standing teacher of the year awards, rookie teachers are selected by their peers for the honor. To eligible for the award, a teacher must be in his or her first year of teaching in a full-time position.
