Summer break is here for Watauga County students as the year wraps up on Friday June 8, 2018.
Early dismissal will take place with K-8 at noon and WHS at 1pm.
Graduation for the Watauga High School Class of 2018 is 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 9 at the Holmes Convocation Center on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone.
At the dismissal Friday there will have been 175 days of school completed, 1,080 hours of instruction, 40 buses that ran approximately 446,075 miles – which according to some quick math accounts for about 18 trips around the earth or roughly to the moon and back once.
The school year got started on August 21, 2017 with an event that will likely never happen again on the same day, a solar eclipse.
